Precision radiation aims to make leukemia transplants safer
NCT ID NCT06209190
Summary
This study tested a new, more targeted form of radiation (TMLI) used to prepare patients for a stem cell transplant from a donor. The goal was to see if this method was safe and practical for young adults with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), aiming to control the cancer while potentially reducing damage to healthy parts of the body. After the transplant, patients required lifelong medications to prevent complications, meaning this is a treatment for controlling the disease, not a cure.
