Vitamin d levels linked to heart attack recovery in new study

NCT ID NCT02996721

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at whether getting vitamin D levels to a healthy range (above 40 ng/mL) after a heart attack could lower the chance of having another heart attack, stroke, heart failure, or dying. About 634 adults who had a recent heart attack took part. Half received standard care, and the other half had their vitamin D levels managed to reach the target. The goal was to see if this simple step could make a real difference in heart health.
