First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looks at how often Tapia's syndrome happens in patients who had a breathing tube for more than 48 hours in the ICU. Tapia's syndrome causes a paralyzed vocal cord and half of the tongue, leading to voice and swallowing problems. Researchers will check 247 adults in a weaning unit to find out how common it is and what factors might increase the risk.
