Prostate drug tested on women for bladder relief after surgery

NCT ID NCT04597372

First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether tamsulosin, a drug typically used for men with prostate problems, can shorten the time women need a catheter after pelvic reconstructive surgery. About 154 women who have trouble emptying their bladder after surgery will receive either tamsulosin or a placebo. The goal is to see if the drug helps them regain normal urination faster and reduces infections.
