New pill could reduce sleep attacks and muscle weakness in narcolepsy

Summary
This study tested a new drug called TAK-861 in 105 people with narcolepsy type 1, a condition causing severe daytime sleepiness and sudden muscle weakness (cataplexy). The goal was to see if the drug improves alertness and reduces cataplexy attacks after 3 months. Participants took either TAK-861 or a placebo, and researchers measured sleepiness using a wakefulness test and questionnaires.
