Gentle tai chi beats core workouts for Post-Surgery balance?

NCT ID NCT07451444

First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tested whether tai chi or core stability exercises better improve balance in people recovering from colorectal surgery. Sixty adults aged 25 to 40 were split into two groups: one did tai chi plus standard physical therapy, the other did core exercises plus standard therapy. Both groups started 10 days after surgery. The main goal was to see which approach helped dynamic balance more, using tests like the Star Excursion Balance Test and the Berg Balance Scale.
