Could fewer lymph node removals be enough? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT04998682
First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at 20 breast cancer patients with advanced lymph node involvement to see if a less extensive surgery (targeted axillary dissection) could accurately tell if cancer remained after chemotherapy. The goal was to see if removing fewer lymph nodes could still give doctors the right information. The main focus was on how often the test missed cancer that was still present in other nodes.
