Swedish scientists hunt for clues to stop scleroderma in its tracks

NCT ID NCT07345052

First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study aims to uncover the key factors that cause and worsen systemic sclerosis (scleroderma), a serious autoimmune disease that hardens the skin and can damage organs like the lungs. Researchers will collect blood and skin samples from 150 patients in Sweden to look for genes, proteins, and other markers linked to disease activity. The goal is to find better ways to predict, diagnose, and treat this condition, but this study does not test any new treatment itself.
