New rapid syphilis test could speed up diagnosis and curb outbreaks
NCT ID NCT06586905
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study is checking if a new rapid test (using a fingerstick blood sample) can accurately diagnose syphilis on the spot, compared to standard lab tests. About 1,300 people visiting a sexual health clinic in Ottawa will take part. If proven reliable, this quick test could help public health workers catch and treat syphilis faster, especially in at-risk groups.
