First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests whether a daily synbiotic (probiotic plus fiber) supplement can reduce symptoms like hallucinations and social withdrawal in people with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. About 68 adults will take either the supplement or a placebo for several weeks, while continuing their usual antipsychotic medication. The goal is to see if improving gut health can help with mental health symptoms.
