Sweat sensor patch could replace needles for kidney checks
NCT ID NCT07342387
First seen Jan 15, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested a small, flexible patch that sticks to the skin and collects sweat to measure sodium and creatinine levels. These substances can indicate how well the kidneys are working and whether the body is dehydrated. The goal is to develop a non-invasive way to monitor kidney health without needing blood draws. Five adults with kidney disease wore the patch while sweating was induced, and the results were compared to standard lab tests.
