Vein fix for dialysis patients: new study shows how surgeons reopen blocked chest veins
NCT ID NCT04637334
First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at 45 adults on hemodialysis who had a blocked or narrowed superior vena cava (SVC), a large vein in the chest. Doctors used surgery or a stent to reopen the vein and relieve symptoms. The goal was to see how well the repair worked over time and whether it helped patients continue dialysis safely.
