New antiseptic wipe tested to keep surgical sites safer
NCT ID NCT03140254
Summary
This study tested a new antiseptic cloth containing octenidine to see if it cleans skin as well as or better than a standard chlorhexidine cloth before surgery. The goal was to prevent surgical site infections by reducing bacteria on the skin. 145 healthy adult volunteers had their skin (abdomen and groin) cleaned with one of the cloths, and researchers measured how well each one killed bacteria immediately and six hours later.
