Fatty tissue shield could save lives after complex pancreas surgery
NCT ID NCT05992857
Summary
This study is testing a new surgical technique to prevent dangerous bleeding after a major pancreas surgery called pancreaticoduodenectomy. In high-risk patients, surgeons will wrap the exposed arteries near the pancreas with a flap of fatty tissue from the abdomen. Researchers want to see if this protective wrap reduces the rate of severe bleeding that requires blood transfusions or additional procedures to stop it.
