New program aims to close the gap for vulnerable surgery patients

NCT ID NCT06356558

Summary

This study aims to improve surgery recovery for patients who struggle with understanding health information. Researchers will adapt a standard recovery program using a new support strategy called VISACT, which uses visual aids and trains healthcare teams. They will test this approach with about 1,050 patients and providers in Alabama to see if it helps patients follow their recovery plans better and reduces hospital stays and complications.
