Could a few minutes of sun each week raise vitamin d and cut infections in kids with cerebral palsy?
NCT ID NCT07757477
First seen Aug 11, 2026 · Last updated Sep 18, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This trial is testing whether regular, short periods of sunlight exposure can increase vitamin D levels in children aged 1-5 with cerebral palsy. Half the children will get 10 minutes of sun three times a week for 8 weeks, while the other half continues their usual routine. The study will also see if this affects the number of respiratory infections and whether any side effects like skin redness occur.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Sunlight exposure
- What this could lead to
- If effective, regular sunlight exposure could offer a simple, low-cost way to improve vitamin D status and potentially reduce respiratory infections in children with cerebral palsy.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial. The benefits may not be significant, and there are risks like skin redness or discomfort from sun exposure.
