Can a phone call save lives? tanzania tests new suicide prevention for heavy drinkers

This study aims to adapt a proven suicide prevention program for people with alcohol use disorder in Tanzania, where mental health resources are very limited. Researchers will work with 30 adults who have both alcohol use disorder and recent suicidal thoughts, testing whether the program is acceptable and practical to deliver through telehealth in an emergency department. The goal is to see if this approach can be used effectively in a low-resource setting, not to directly treat or cure the conditions.
