New hope: nurse and peer support aims to prevent suicide in tajik women

Summary

This study tests a new program called SUSTAIN, where nurses and trained peers provide support to women at moderate or high risk of suicide in Tajikistan. About 96 women will take part, with half receiving the program and half getting usual care. The goal is to see if this approach reduces suicidal thoughts and attempts over 9 months.
