5-Minute MRI could spot brain issues in rare disorder

NCT ID NCT04517565

First seen Apr 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests a new, fast MRI method that takes about 5 minutes and does not require contrast dye or sedation, even in children. Researchers will scan 80 people with Sturge-Weber syndrome (ages 3 months to 30 years) to see how well this quick MRI detects brain abnormalities compared to standard MRI. They will also use advanced imaging to study brain blood vessels and connections, linking these findings to thinking and motor skills. The goal is to improve understanding of the disease and guide future treatments.
