Mind over matter: stroke patients learn to rewire their brains for reading

NCT ID NCT04875936

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study explores whether a brain imaging technique called fMRI neurofeedback, combined with imagining hand movements, can help stroke survivors improve their reading. About 28 people who had a stroke in the left side of their brain and now have reading problems will practice controlling their own brain activity using real-time feedback. The goal is to see if this mental training can restore healthier brain patterns and boost reading accuracy and comprehension.
