The trial has finished. Results may not be published yet.
Stopped early
Stopped early, before it reached the end. That can be for many reasons, including safety.
Cancelled
Cancelled before anyone took part.

Expanded access (not trials)

Expanded access
Not a trial. This treatment can be requested outside a study, case by case, for people who qualify.
Expanded access (paused)
Not a trial. The treatment can normally be requested outside a study, but is unavailable right now.
Expanded access (ended)
Not a trial. The treatment could once be requested outside a study, but no longer can.
Approved
The treatment has been approved, so it is available normally rather than through this programme.

Summary

Researchers in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, are testing iVIDAVC, a behavior-change program adapted from an Irish model, to help stroke survivors adopt healthier habits. The program combines an educational session, one-on-one coaching, and weekly group meetings led by a physiotherapist. Twenty-four adults who have had a stroke and want to change at least one lifestyle behavior, such as physical inactivity, poor diet, smoking, or alcohol use, take part. The pilot study checks whether the program can be run as planned and whether it helps participants reach their personal behavior-change goals.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
iVIDAVC, a behavior-change program led by a physiotherapist with education, individual coaching, and group sessions
What this could lead to
If it works, this could give stroke survivors in Brazil a structured, low-cost way to build healthier habits and lower their risk of another stroke.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot with 24 people, so it mainly tests whether the program can be delivered as planned. It cannot prove that the program prevents repeat strokes, and participants may not stick with the sessions or the habit changes.
