Scientists probe the hidden reasons stroke patients abandon their own arm
NCT ID NCT04747587
Summary
This study aimed to understand a common problem after a stroke called 'non-use,' where a person can move their weakened arm but chooses not to. Researchers tested 53 people, including stroke survivors and healthy volunteers, to see if making a task require less force or be less precise would encourage use of the affected arm. The goal was to gather knowledge to help design better rehabilitation techniques in the future.
