Dentist stress under the microscope: saliva tests reveal all
NCT ID NCT07541508
First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looked at stress levels in 3 female pediatric dentists with over 10 years of experience while they performed dental treatments under deep sedation or general anesthesia. Researchers measured stress using saliva samples (alpha-amylase and cortisol), blood pressure, pulse, oxygen levels, and a self-reported stress scale. The goal was to compare stress during different anesthesia methods, but the small size means results are limited.
