Temporary stoma vs. direct repair: which is safer for gut perforation?

NCT ID NCT04604730

Summary

This study aims to find the best surgical method for treating a severe abdominal infection caused by a burst diverticulum in the colon. It will compare two approaches: one that directly reconnects the bowel and another that adds a temporary opening (stoma) to divert waste. Researchers will measure which method leads to fewer complications and better quality of life for patients over a year.
