Steroids may change how kids wake up from anesthesia
NCT ID NCT07175623
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study looked at how two common steroids (methylprednisolone and dexamethasone) affect the time it takes for children to recover from muscle relaxants used during surgery. Sixty children aged 5 to 12 years having tonsil or adenoid surgery were randomly assigned to receive one of the steroids or a placebo. The goal was to see if the steroids changed how quickly the anesthesia reversal drug worked and if they affected pain or nausea after surgery.
