New blood test may spot hidden curable hypertension without stopping meds

NCT ID NCT06941116

First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a new steroid-based blood test can more accurately identify a curable form of high blood pressure called primary aldosteronism. About 406 adults with high blood pressure will have their blood tested while continuing their usual medications. The goal is to see if this method works better than the current standard test, which often requires patients to temporarily stop their blood pressure drugs.
