First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding umbilical cord stem cells to standard steroid treatment could help people with severe graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), a serious complication after a bone marrow transplant. 26 participants received the stem cells or a placebo along with their usual care. The goal was to see if the stem cells could improve response rates and survival without added risks.
