Could stem cells help damaged lungs heal?

NCT ID NCT07413978

First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether injecting stem cells from donated umbilical cords is safe for people with moderate to severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), a serious lung condition. About 36 adults who haven't improved with standard care will receive the stem cells. The main goal is to check for side effects and find the best dose, not to cure the disease.
