Nerve block shows promise for Post-Stroke swallowing woes

NCT ID NCT06319534

First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a stellate ganglion block (an injection near nerves in the neck) could improve swallowing in people who had trouble swallowing after a stroke. 124 adults who had a first-time stroke with bulbar palsy took part. All received standard rehabilitation, and half also got the nerve block. After 10 days, swallowing function was measured using special X-ray and scope tests.
