Nerve block may ease swallowing trouble in stroke survivors

NCT ID NCT06319534

First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether a stellate ganglion block (a nerve injection) can improve swallowing in people who had a stroke and developed bulbar palsy. 124 adults who had their first stroke took part. All received standard rehab, and half also got the nerve block. After 10 days, swallowing function was measured using special X-ray and scope tests. The goal was to see if the block helps reduce swallowing problems.
