Nerve block before bypass may stop Post-Surgery heart flutter

NCT ID NCT07271615

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether a numbing injection near the neck (stellate ganglion block) given before coronary artery bypass surgery can lower the chance of developing a fast, irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) after the operation. About 60 adults having bypass surgery will be randomly assigned to receive the block or not. The goal is to see if this simple procedure can reduce a common and serious complication.
