Could a statin save pregnancies? new trial aims to buy time for At-Risk babies
NCT ID NCT07098975
First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tests whether a daily dose of pravastatin, a common heart medication, can safely prolong pregnancy in women diagnosed with severe early-onset placental insufficiency. The condition restricts blood flow to the baby, often leading to early delivery. The trial will compare pravastatin to a placebo in 154 pregnant women to see if it delays delivery and reduces complications for both mother and child.
