First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a phlegm (sputum) test to guide treatment can reduce chronic cough in people with interstitial lung disease (ILD). About 120 adults with ILD and daily cough for at least 8 weeks will be randomly assigned to either standard care or care guided by sputum test results. The goal is to match the right medicine to each person's lung inflammation, aiming to ease cough and improve quality of life.
