Data dive aims to save spleens, reduce major surgery
NCT ID NCT06334263
Summary
This study aims to understand the best way to treat serious spleen injuries caused by trauma, like car crashes or falls. Researchers will analyze existing medical records from thousands of patients across England to compare two main approaches: major surgery to remove the spleen versus a less invasive procedure that blocks the bleeding artery. The goal is to create clearer guidelines so doctors can choose the most effective treatment to stop bleeding while preserving the spleen whenever possible.
