New injection aims to slash painkiller use after back surgery

Summary
This study is testing whether a specific nerve block injection given before minimally invasive back surgery can help manage pain afterward. The goal is to see if this reduces the need for strong opioid pain medications and their side effects. Researchers will compare the injection to a placebo in 125 adults having common lumbar spine procedures.
