Scientists probe Fat's role in back pain and spinal stenosis

NCT ID NCT07232836

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study explores whether chemicals released by fat tissue near the spine contribute to spinal canal narrowing (stenosis) and pain. Researchers will collect tissue and blood samples from 100 people undergoing back surgery—50 with spinal stenosis and 50 with a herniated disc (control group). The goal is to identify biomarkers that could help monitor disease and guide future non-surgical treatments.
