New combo therapy aims to prevent spine fractures in cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05178472

First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a procedure called vertebroplasty (which strengthens broken spine bones) to radiation therapy can help prevent further spine fractures and improve outcomes in people whose cancer has spread to the spine. About 200 adults with spine metastases will receive different combinations of radiation, vertebroplasty, surgery, or immunotherapy. The goal is to find the best way to control the cancer, reduce pain, and improve quality of life.
