Scientists pinpoint 'Goldilocks' dose for surgery numbness
NCT ID NCT07144215
Summary
This study aimed to find the best dose of a sedative drug (dexmedetomidine) to mix with standard spinal anesthesia. Researchers tested it on 40 adults having hip or knee surgery to see which dose reliably kept patients numb for over 200 minutes. They used a special method to adjust the dose up or down for each new patient based on the previous one's results.
