Scientists pinpoint perfect spinal shot for joint surgery

NCT ID NCT07144215

Summary

This study aimed to find the best dose of a sedative drug (dexmedetomidine) to mix with standard spinal anesthesia. The goal was to provide about 200 minutes of reliable numbness for patients undergoing hip or knee surgery. Researchers tested different doses on 40 patients to see which one worked best while monitoring for side effects like low blood pressure.
