First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tested whether using the length of the lower spine to calculate the dose of bupivacaine (a numbing medicine) for C-sections works better than the usual method based on height and weight. 446 women having planned C-sections were randomly assigned to receive a dose based on spine length or height. The main goal was to see which group had fewer cases of dangerously low blood pressure during surgery.
