First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested if using the length of the lower spine to decide the dose of numbing medicine (bupivacaine) for C-sections could lower the risk of dangerously low blood pressure. 446 women having planned C-sections were split into groups: one got a dose based on spine length, the others got doses based on height or weight. The goal was to see which method caused fewer blood pressure drops during surgery.
