Can speech therapy slow language loss in progressive aphasia?

NCT ID NCT04881617

First seen Nov 14, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether specialized speech and language therapy can help people with primary progressive aphasia (PPA) — a brain disease that slowly destroys the ability to speak and understand language. Researchers will enroll 60 adults with PPA to undergo therapy and track their communication skills for up to a year. The goal is to find out if treatment can improve or maintain language function and which brain features predict who benefits most.
