Summary
This study tested a new type of PET-CT scanner that lets surgeons check, during the operation, whether they have removed all the cancer. 57 adults with prostate or head and neck cancer took part. The goal was to see if the scanner can accurately tell if cancer cells are left at the edge of the removed tissue, which could help surgeons avoid guesswork and reduce the need for extra treatments.
