Sound waves and light drug target deadly brain tumors in early trial

NCT ID NCT06665724

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 05, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This early-phase trial tested a new treatment for aggressive brain tumors called high-grade glioma. Sixteen patients received a drug (5-ALA) plus focused ultrasound to activate the drug inside the tumor, a few days before standard surgery and chemo-radiation. The main goal was to check safety and side effects, not to cure the disease. Patients still needed standard therapy afterward.
