Storybook may ease surgery anxiety for kids with autism

Summary
This study tests whether a visual storybook, called the Social Stories Technique, can help children with autism feel less anxious and cooperate better during anesthesia before surgery. About 40 children aged 3 to 18 will either receive the storybook to review at home or standard instructions. The goal is to see if this simple, non-drug approach improves the surgery experience.
