Smoking may weaken Women's grip and pain tolerance, study finds
NCT ID NCT07611760
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looked at how smoking affects pain threshold, neck position sense, and grip strength in 132 women aged 18-45, comparing smokers to non-smokers. Researchers measured pressure pain threshold, how accurately women could sense their neck position, and hand grip strength. The goal is to understand if smoking is linked to physical changes that could affect daily function.

- What could go wrong
- This is a small, completed observational study, not a treatment trial. It cannot prove cause and effect, only associations. Results may not apply to men or older women.
