Summary
This study tested whether giving smokers in the emergency department a brief talk, an e-cigarette, and a referral to stop-smoking services helps them quit more than usual care. About 972 adult daily smokers took part across 6 hospitals. The main goal was to see if they stayed smoke-free for 6 months, checked with a breath test.
