Can a higher dose help smokers with pancreatitis kick the habit?

NCT ID NCT07171112

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at whether increasing the dose of varenicline or adding another medication (bupropion) helps people with recurrent acute or chronic pancreatitis quit smoking. All 45 participants start with standard-dose varenicline; those still smoking after 6 weeks are randomly assigned to a higher dose, combination therapy, or continued standard dose. The main goal is to see who has quit by 12 weeks, confirmed by a breath test.
