Smartwatch-Guided heart pills aim to keep AFib patients out of hospital

NCT ID NCT07445789

Summary

This study aims to see if the heart medication verapamil works better than the more commonly used metoprolol at controlling heart rate in people with a type of irregular heartbeat called paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AFib). It will involve 436 adults with symptomatic AFib who need heart rate control. A smaller group will also test if using a smartwatch to guide their medication dose helps them manage their condition better, with the goal of reducing hospital visits and procedures.
