Phone alerts aim to curb suicide risk in critical weeks after hospital

NCT ID NCT05793541

Summary

This study tests whether brief, timely messages sent to a person's smartphone can help them use their safety plan and reduce suicidal thoughts. Adults recently hospitalized for suicidal thoughts will answer surveys on their phones several times a day for a month. After each survey, they may receive a supportive message encouraging them to use their safety plan or a specific coping strategy. Researchers want to see if these messages are helpful and acceptable to users.
