Smart legs learn to move like real limbs

NCT ID NCT06138977

Summary

This study aims to develop smarter control systems for powered prosthetic legs using machine learning. Researchers will test new software that helps prosthetic knees and ankles adapt more naturally to different activities like walking, climbing stairs, and standing up. The study involves 40 participants, including both able-bodied individuals and above-knee amputees, to validate whether these new control systems improve movement symmetry and endurance compared to conventional prosthetics.
